The Singapore International Foundation (SIF) is holding a week-long residence programme for young social entrepreneurs who would like to learn the fundamentals of starting a social enterprise.
To be held from 7-11 December 2009, the programme will bring actual social entrepreneurs and other mentors to meet with the participants.
The key things that budding social entrepreneurs will learn include: Business plan development, Enterprise structure, Social impact assessment, Fundraising. There will also be a field trip to a local social enterprise.
The residence programme will take up to 6 groups of 3 to 4 members, with each group having at least 1 but no more than 2 Singaporean members. To participate, groups have to submit a 3-page business plan for a social enterprise that effectively addresses a community development need that the team has identified.
During the week, teams will work on refining these business plans with mentors and will pitch their plans to their fellow participants and mentors. A cash prize of S$3,000 will be awarded to the team with the best presentation.
Application for the programme closes on 9 October 2009. Sign up now.
