For those who are interested in social entrepreneurship, here is a forum which will be happening this weekend. The title is Social Entrepreneurship Forum 2007: Making it Work in Asia. The event will be held on 31 March 2007, Suntec International Convention & Exhibition Centre, Theatre Level 3 from 9.00 am – 1.00 pm. Distinguished speakers include Chris Cusano (Ashoka) and Marie Lisa Dacanay (Asian Institute of Management).
Key Highlights of the Forum
1) First Ever Release of The Tri-City Research Findings
SE Forum 2007 promises to be just as exciting and engaging, featuring the launch and first public discussion of The Tri-City Research, conducted by Albert C. Y. Teo of the NUS Business School & Gillian Koh of the Institute of Policy Studies, on the shape of social enterprises in Hong Kong, Taipei and Singapore. Conducted by academics and social entrepreneurs from the three cities, the tri-city research will unveil insightful findings of viable business models, current challenges and effective solutions.
2) Full Economic Citizenship:
The forum also boasts prominent speakers in the field:
1. Chris Cusano of Ashoka will speak on Full Economic Citizenship – how individuals, businesses and governments have a role to play as change agents to create an inclusive, just and sustainable global economy.
2. Marie Lisa Dacanay of the Asian Institute of Management will share practical insights on how to sustain SEs in the region, such as sourcing for finances and working with philanthropists and corporations
3. Claire Chiang, President of Singapore Compact and Ken Ito of Tokyo Social Venture will shed light on Corporate Social Responsibility and the role of a Social Venture Fund respectively, and how win-win partnerships can be created to evolve the SE sector in the region.
